​Square payroll ripoff alert

I was tasked with finding a payroll provider for a startup. I made the mistake of choosing square payroll. Setting up an account was easy and I linked a bank account and credit card for the fees.

Thankfully my gut told me to test the system out first due to bad prior experiences with cashapp, a square company. I set up a small independent contractor payment and ran a test payroll.

This morning I woke up to find a nastygram from square that our account is closed (no reason given as is squares mo).

The kicker is they went ahead and ach debited the test payroll and sent an email saying they are keeping the money for 60 days! Are you kidding me?! I’m just glad it wasn’t an actual payroll run or we would be out significant money.

Do not do business with square in any form.
