I’ve had two FALSE claims from two different customers in three weeks.
1) The first customer used AMEX, then claims he was charged for the same item “multiple times” and started a chargeback. I gave all sorts of screenshot proof that there was one order/one charge, not only proof on my end but proof via Stripe. Yet Amex quickly gives the donkey’s behind his money back, plus I had to pay the fee. It was so fast than it’s as if AMEX doesn’t care about proof. So he got the item free. I will never accept AMEX again.
2) Then recently, another customer uses Mastercard for the same item I sell, but quickly emails, wanting a refund, except he wants a refund for amount that is $86 MORE than what he paid me for an item I sell. (It’s a drop ship item, and I luckily hadn’t yet sent the order in to the dropship company) I sent him screenshot proof that his order/charge was not the amount he was claiming. I also refunded him immediately ONLY for what he paid, and reported the transaction as fraud on his part to Stripe, explaining what he was trying to do.
But of course, the second customer above is still emailing complaints that he needs his FULL money back i.e also the extra $86. He includes a screenshot of what he claims is the charge (which shows $86 more than he paid me for the item). I examined the screenshot he sent. And here’s my question: why would a credit card company show him a charge that is $86 more than what was charged? How is that possible? Or is what he was showing me a subtotal of all his charges up to that point? Does the latter happen? Something doesn’t add up.
