The New York Times reached out to us for a quote on this story. There is definitely an increase in awareness of the SME business for sale market in recent years. A lot of it is driven by MBA programs on business acquisition, search funds, and the rise of YouTubers pitching the “buy then build” strategy. The latter phenomenon is also spreading a lot of misinformation, but it does help to spread the word, and make small business owners more aware of their options when it comes time to retire, or otherwise exit.
