I run a paid newsletter that has a self-service customer portal (to cancel or change plans). Today, I received an angry email (my email address is on the website and on the credit card statement) from a subscriber asking me why he is still being charged despite canceling his subscription. I check my database and his subscription was never canceled, hence why he is being charged. I send him a screenshot of his account, to which he responds by saying the he emailed me to cancel his subscription. I check my inbox and spam, nothing. I asked him when he emailed me, he angrily sends me no less than 20 screenshot of various email he sent and received. I check the email chain, and – I kid you not – he emailed a bunch of random companies asking them to cancel his subscription. The entire exchanges are the customer service reps of these companies telling him they have no record of him being a customer and him calling them names. So I asked him one very simple question: “are you stupid”?
I know this story brings no value to the discussion but I just wanted to vent and share this new professional milestone.
Cheers
