My husband and I own a small plumbing company. Our goal in this business starting out was primarily to make enough to support/grow our family, manage the business, and give back to our community.

Our kids are going off to college soon and expressing interest in continuing the brand. We’re both early 40s and would like to grow the business over the next 5-7 years and expand our service area.

Backstory given because we are a little clueless on how to scale a mom and pop shop up to a midsized company. We don’t want to lose our current customer base, nor sacrifice our quality of work and level of customer service.

We also want to make sure we make the right financial moves so we don’t misstep and go backwards instead of saving for retirement. We both follow Reddit and X subs, we’ve also taken a lot of the Million Dollar Plumber courses.

Just wondering if anyone out there benefited from a business coach to help stream like operations and give some directional advice.

I admittedly am not an organized person. I make myself write every thing down in a planner and post its to keep myself on track, just looking for a little help.

TL;DR: Is a business coach a good investment for growing a small brand into something worth handing down to our kids? Personal experiences and recommendations greatly greatly appreciated!
