Just a few days ago, I participated in a contest on 99designs where a designer stole a logo from another website, submitted it, and actually won. The client ended up paying over $500 for a copied logo! There’s an option to report such designs, but the response I received was, ‘As this entry has been awarded, it will not be deleted, but the case will be followed up on further outside the dispute system.’ They settled with the designer, and the client unknowingly paid $500-700 for stolen material. This kind of thing is very common on 99designs, and they don’t seem to take meaningful action to prevent it. Some staff members even make settlements outside the platform, allowing their favorite designers to get away with this behavior. Clients often realize they’ve been cheated after the fact, and it can lead to copyright violations. It’s risky to use a website like this
