Ideas into Reality
I had a client today I charged $700 and said he wouldve paid 2-4k and said I need to up my prices, I get a lot of clients who are middle class and think my pricing is steep.
I accidentally quoted a big job 4x more than I meant to… and he took it.
at my current pricing i get about $300/hour and about 15% of that is in material costs
If my pricing was better I would have lost some jobs but if I caught a big fish at a proper price it would more than cover those missed opportunities.
I noticed its always the wealthy guys who see it for the value rather than cost and are willing to pay so much and the middle class ones who see it as price, is it scummy to charge richer people more? I wouldn’t want to lose out on business
Also to note im in canada and the price range it says online for mid teir guys is $8-$15/sqft and im at $8.5 CAD so I want to atleast go to $15 CAD so like $10.5USD but I realized thats a middle ground and pigs get slaughtered so im thinking I might just need to go straight to the top range premium price point, the job I closed on accident was at $25/sqft and the math for the client who said hed pay 2-4k $25/sqft would be at that 2k mark so im thinking I either go top end, or very least raise prices a little
another thing is I offer my clients 2 options if they only have a small job they can just send me the measurements and ill quote it over the phone but bigger jobs are in person quotes, maybe incorporate premium pricing at $25/sqft for in person and do over the phone pricing at $15/sqft
Please let me know thoughts, pricing is really important and I can’t mess it up
