My business is currently working on an ongoing project, and everything has been going smoothly and according to plan. Recently, the client requested a reshoot of the photography at a specific location because they want to include a new building they have constructed. They understand that this will be additional costs.
However, the challenge is that while the actual work will only take about an hour, the travel and waiting time will be 15-16 hours. The first time I did this, it was relatively cheaper because I had multiple other jobs in the area. But now, traveling there solely for this one photo is a different story.
Here’s the breakdown: travel costs $60, the hotel is $120, my hourly rate for waiting/travel is $50, and my working rate is $100 per hour. This brings the total cost to around $1,000 – $1,100 for this job.
How should I charge for the waiting time and travel? I don’t want to overcharge the client, but I also can’t afford to lose money on this.
