I own a pizza shop. I have just been told that an employee, who I trust to run the shop one night per week, has been giving away food to her friend when I’m not there. The friend is a previous employee who I had to let go. I told them it was because I couldn’t afford the wages (true – but she was also extremely unreliable, didn’t work it I didn’t keep on her back, and has drug issues I didn’t want in my business, especially since most staff are teenagers). I’m struggling with how to approach this. My employee probably thinks of it as doing a favour for a friend, but it’s not acceptable and I’m struggling to make ends meet as it is. We don’t have cctv, it’s another staff member told me and said “you didn’t hear this from me”
