Our text provider just fucked my business and my facebook page is filled with customer outrage. I run a local store and recently decided to use them to send out a campaign to my customers. I’ve been using them for months (been fine so far) and I was excited to get the word out about our latest promotion.
However, things took a disastrous turn when they suggested I use their AI writer. I had a message that included a fun little play on words involving a “duck” (yes, the bird).
Well Imagine my horror when I started receiving a flood of angry responses from customers. Turns out, their AI decided to “helpfully” replace the word “duck” with “fuck”
So, instead of sending out a friendly, light-hearted message, I essentially sent a profanity-laden text to hundreds of my customers. My phone was blowing up with complaints, and I had to do major damage control to explain the situation and apologize.
This has been a nightmare. I’ve lost customers, credibility, and a lot of sleep over this.
I’m sharing this as a cautionary tale. If you’re thinking about using someone, be warned: their AI might just screw you over in the worst possible way.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this? How did you handle the fallout?
