I recently came across a post discussing how cold emails can be annoying, with many people associating them with scams, particularly those offering SEO and web design services. As a Nigerian that just started doing SEO, this was a bit discouraging because I was planning to try cold emailing myself.

Here’s my plan: I wanted to send a 5-minute Loom video providing a free short audit and then offer paid web design services to local businesses with poor websites. I also planned to offer free SEO services to demonstrate my skills. However, I’ve heard that many people mark these emails as spam without even opening them.

Given this, do you think Facebook outreach might be a better option for reaching potential clients? My goal is to secure 1 or 2 clients before August due to some financial needs. Afterward, I plan to rely more on SEO and YouTube for client acquisition.

I’ve also started working on SEO for my own website.

What do you all think? Should I stick with cold emailing, try Facebook outreach, or explore another option? Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Edit: Hey everyone, thank you so much for your insight! I won’t be cold emailing. Instead, I’ll focus on ranking my website, creating content on LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram. In the meantime, I’ll try to find an SEO job to support myself until I start getting results from these methods.
