I have owned a service business for a very long time. We do work in an upper middle class neighborhood, where a few of the owners are really petty and stingy.
We were working at a house and everything went well. After the lady (who wasnt home while we were there) accused us of damaging her drywall. I was there with an employee, I asked the employee if he saw any damage on the drywall, and he said yeah, in the room where her husband was working, but it was there already. He is a trustworthy guy, I know he wasnt lying. We had nothing on us that would even do that kind of damage.
Well the lady said that she had personally checked the wall before we arrived and she knew it wasnt there. I said well I know we didn’t do it and she insisted. So I just said ok, Ill fix it. Well my employee told me her husband was in that room the whole time. I asked her if I could talk to her husband about it and she said sure and then hung up. She is not letting us talk to him, I know she knows he is going to be honest and tell us he didnt see us damage it.
The repair will only be a few hundred dollars. The logical business owner in me says just pay it so they dont leave bad reviews for us. But I KNOW she is just trying to force us to repair this and she knows we didnt do it.
Im so upset about this its eating me alive. I know the best thing to do for the business is just pay for it, but Im sick of these entitled assholes trying to take advantage of a small business and I feel like I need to put my foot down and not let this lady get away with it. I rarely get this upset at a customer, but Ive fucking had it!!
