​I want to start building websites but have no idea where to start

Hi everyone!

So I run my own business completely outside of web dev but in the months of May – August things are DEAD slow. I want to freelance as a way to keep myself busy and make an extra income.

My background is software engineering so I have a very good understanding of most languages BUT my design skills are terrible and I’ve never had to host a website for anyone. Where and what would be the best place to start ? I feel like WordPress would be best but my fear is the hosting as I have never had to deal with something like that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
