Ideas into Reality

Should you allow ethics and morals to get in the way of business?

I’ve worked in marketing for quite some time. During this time I’ve aligned myself with many different forms of marketing and platforms none of which has made me ask the question in the title more than my most recent marketing service which dips into Reddit and its organic viewership potential.

I talked about the service a little bit more in my last post, but to save you the read essentially I’ve been able to leverage Reddit to create some serious organic exposure I would’ve never gotten on other platforms since Reddit tends to connect with the user on a deeper level and the communities host a wide range of topics and potential eyes for a business to utilize. Well, it’s of no surprise that this value is being sought after by many larger businesses that just can’t seem to figure Reddit out and have turned to people like me to help them. These businesses oftentimes include things that are 18+ because other platforms don’t allow them to advertise or post their content, this would include businesses like casinos, onlyfans models, tobacco/smoking-related products, and the list goes on and on.

Now listen I’m not someone who’s gonna tell young kids to smoke or gamble, and I understand the harm it can cause which is why I’ve asked myself this question over and over, but to that same extent if I don’t market these products it’s not like the company won’t just find someone else to do it and for that reason along with the fact that many of these companies carry some serious budgets I’ve really considered opening my doors wide open (no diddy) for these businesses to use my services but like I said I’m just not sure how many people feel about morals and ethics of working with these companies and if so what will the long term impact on my brand/service be?
