Hey, I’ve got a bit of a situation. My business partner and I started our design business about six months ago. I handle logo designs and branding, while he takes care of web design and marketing. For brand identity clients, I do the logos and he handles the web stuff.
I just found out he’s been keeping tips for himself, and I’m not sure how long this has been going on.
We had a client who needed a logo, and we got everything done before the deadline. The client was thrilled and tipped us $300, but since he paid in cash and my partner collected it, I didn’t even know about it.
Two weeks ago, the client’s friend came to us for a logo, and during our chat, he mentioned how much he loved the previous logo and how thrilled the first client was. He also said he wanted to give a bigger tip but didn’t have enough cash at the time.
I was shocked. My partner never told me about any of this, and when I checked with some past clients, one of them mentioned he tipped as well.
What should I do about this? I’m really taken aback.
