​Lost My Life Savings In A Bad Investment. What Now?

Hello everyone!

I am using a throwaway account for this post obviously. I am 30 years old and recently found out I lost $140k-$160k on a bad investment in a small business. It was invested several years ago and all investors were just informed our investment is basically worth nothing now.

I know how stupid it was to invest all of my savings into one investment like I did however this investment did give returns for the years leading up to the downfall. Never put your eggs all in one basket! I lost all of my life savings.

However, there have been some positives that have come out of this. When it seemed like the business was going to fail a couple of years ago the sudden realization motivated me to complete my degree and gain a further education to start a new career/small business with higher pay and my spouse and I will have recouped this loss within two years.

However, I have just not been able to stop thinking about it and how many years I may have added to my working life. Im not sure how to deal with this loss mentally. I feel like a complete idiot! Any tips from those who may have gone through the same?
