​Painted a house and homeowner is hassling me from our initial agreement

This was my text for the quote “Hey thom

I could cover the cost of the plastic and tape but you’d have to provide the paint. This quote would be the cost for me to paint the house labour wise and not including the paint but me covering the rest of the material.

Pressure washing which would almost be one whole day, then priming the whole house with 1 coat which is about 2 whole days there & then Painting the exterior siding, brick siding and window trim and fascia and soffit with 2 coats which would take me about 3 days so it would take me about 5-6 days to finish so I’d probably be at $3600 this brown color is going to be harder to cover then the other houses I’ve painted for you in the past and is going to need 1 extra coat of priming and 2 of the finish paint so 3 total coats unlike most of the lighter colours I was able to do primer and paint in one and just do 2 coats of paint.

I finished the house and asked for my check here is his response “Good morning Joe, The other painter was going to do it for $4000 all paint and supplies included. I spent $1200 on painting and supplies. I already power wash the deck all you have to do is sanding and spraying, $300 is good, let me know if you can do it today.

“hi this is Julio, how are you ? I can do the job for you for $4000 paints and everything included, I await your response”

And now he wants me to paint his deck while he hasn’t paid me in full for deck, he gave me a check for $2000 when I was a few days from being finished, I did not ask for it and now that I’m finished asking for the remaining $1600 he’s not trying to pay the rest of the amount. I now offered to do the deck for free and to just give me the remaining amount left owed and I’d do the deck for free on my own time but want the check upfront before I start the deck and he replied okay. Now I get this msg “Hey Joe, I left you a check there for $1k, please get the deck done and I’ll get you the rest, I Gòn to run but let me know when you are working on the deck so that I can meet you there!!
