Hey r/smallbusiness,
I’m facing a frustrating situation with potential clients (more than once) and could use some advice:
Clients come to me with a problem they want solved. I explain how I can solve it and quote my rates. They reveal they’ve already paid someone else to solve it, but the problem persists. They want me to “fix” the other person’s work. I explain I can’t do that and need to approach it my way. They complain my rates are much higher than the previous person’s. I suggest they either: Go back to the original developer Use platforms like Wix, WordPress, or Squarespace Try Fiverr or Upwork They refuse, saying they don’t trust these options and don’t want to waste money.
I’m at a loss. How do you deal with clients who want premium results but aren’t willing to pay (not even high) premium prices? Any strategies for educating them on the value of quality work?
