Ideas into Reality

Client wants to throw away one of my most successful campaigns, what should I do?

I recently brought on a plastic surgeon and his team who specialize in almost everything you can do with the human body. That includes stuff like butt lifts, breast augmentation, those new ab things that Drake has, and essentially all the bells and whistles you can ask for in both men and women who are into those types of things. Now this is important to the story because he doesn’t necessarily have a focus for any one service and when he brought me on for SEO he told me he wanted to expand his company for all of these and just bring in as much business as he possibly can. Now for me, I said okay easy enough and it doesn’t limit my scope of work too much because outside of focusing on the local area and potential competitors things should be pretty easy to narrow down keyword-wise.

Now you’re probably saying why does this matter, well a few months into our SEO campaign things were moving so well that we happened to rank for one of his less popular services known as “Penis Enlargement” which at the time wasn’t so common for him to do but with over 40,000 searches a month nationally and hundreds if not thousands in the local area you can imagine that once he moved up into the top 3 or 5 his phone was ringing and he was getting many more requests for this service than he ever imagined. The leads were so many in fact that he has asked me to remove this service from his website and hear me out I get it you know I’m a man and seeing another dude’s junk maybe once or twice a year in the YMCA locker room on accident is enough for me but with so many searches and leads this is a great opportunity.

At the end of the day, I understand it is his business and I’ve already begun working on taking it down and redirecting the traffic back to other pages, but its kinda depressing seeing as how this keyword was over a 50 KD nationally and somehow we managed to crush the competition for it. But do you think there’s anything I can do to make him reconsider his decision? I think at the bare minimum it’ll be a funny yet nice case study to add to my resume if nothing else.
