For some context, I run a SMB in Florida and we have been doing a lot of marketing experiments lately to increase sales. We tried probably more than 100s and here are 5 that actually worked.
Hyper Optimizing your Google Business Profile: If you are a SMB with a local physical presence, ensure you verify your Google Business Profile and set it up with photos, descriptions, website url etc. They have been enormously helpful for us to gain customers via google map search and more Handing out posters with chocolates: Normal posters never worked for us. So we print out colorful A4 posters and clipped a simple chocolate to it. It massively increased conversion rates for us. Blogs Cross Posted to Pinterest: We used AI to automatically generate useful and relevant blogs for our business using Wosily, added a human touch and then crossposted it to our Pinterest page every week. This has been slowly but steadily bringing in more traffic via Google search results. Bidding on Long Tail Low Competition Keywords on Google Search Ads: We have seen good ROI on bidding for keywords with ~100 monthly search volume on Google but this depends on your margins and long term value of the customer. We used SEMRush and Google Keyword Planner. Post purchase surveys: We sent out post purchase surveys routinely to understand their problems that helped us further optimize our current products and also upsell more to our existing customers.
Hopefully these help some fellow SMB owners here. LMK what strategies worked for you in the comments below 🙂
