The other day Osha shows us unexpectedly and I did my best to answer any questions they have.. very early in the conversation they let me know they need to speak with my employees which I quickly let them know I only have 1 and they are not here. It was oddly weird that they didn’t seem very happy that the part time employee was not present and actually asked why are they not here!!
We continue to do a walkthrough and they point out several things like fire extinguishers, bench grinder guards and checked for a range of other things like welders, ground pins on cords, guards on angle grinders..
Seemed odd they never once mentioned eye wash station, gloves, glasses or first aid materials.
They asked me for a w9 form and scheduled a day to come back to speak with the employee.
What is going on? Does this not seem odd? I mean they literally stopped writing on the “labor board” paperwork the minute I said the employee was not present.
Give me your thoughts on this..
