I’ve worked in the fashion design industry for five years, and no one truly knows how much I’ve been through behind the scenes. Back in 2020, while COVID was still ongoing, I made the firm decision to start my own design studio.
My ex-husband was strongly against my decision, and this persistent disagreement slowly broke our relationship, eventually leading to our divorce in July 2023. I’ve never shared these hardships with my family over the years. Today, I just want to release the long-suppressed pressure in my heart, and honestly ask for objective advice: should I continue my entrepreneurial path?
I originally thought the pandemic would end soon, but it dragged on until 2022 and 2023. It took me nearly a whole year to finish studio renovation and preparation, and I officially launched my studio in mid-to-late 2021. Fortunately, former colleagues and my previous company gave me a lot of support, helping me cover daily operating costs without touching my personal savings.
During that tough period, my ex-husband repeatedly pressured me to shut down the studio, but I insisted on holding on. Even when our marriage fell apart, I never regretted choosing my dream. I lost my family, but I successfully built the studio I’d always wanted.
Earlier this year, I chose to pause studio operations, though I still keep the space. Right now, I’m working full-time at a fashion design company with a stable, well-paid job. Recently, a close friend offered to invest in my studio and encouraged me to restart my business.
Yet the struggles of the past five years have left me hesitant and afraid. I’m stuck in a dilemma: on one side, my parents hope I settle down and remarry at my age; on the other side, my unfulfilled entrepreneurial dream is calling me again. I’m extremely confused and would love honest, objective opinions.
