Hello,
I run a small business, just hired on my first employee and it’s been up and down.
She’s learning slowly, which I don’t mind but she brought up a situation of suing another employer and how she is going to sue one other company for some wrong doing. I feel she is doing that to create a fear in me of getting sued if I let her go.
Today I walked into my office and saw that she clocked out 30 minutes late on Friday, triggering overtime. I checked the camera and verified the time she left so I know what she did.
I didn’t confront her on it yet, but before she left I texted her “don’t forget to clock out,” which she did right away.
Then she texts me asking for advance pay due to financial hardship, and I said I need to speak to payroll and see if they offer some sort of advanced pay.
We are in California, and I am very tired of having to babysit this girl and I’m almost ready to fire her. What do I need to consider before I do this? Is advance pay a normal thing?
