Thanks for reading my rant.
I live in a small rust belt city. The kind of place that is slowly being gentrified. Applebee’s and Olive garden are still king however.
People are always complaining how we don’t have any variety in business. No good ethnic food, no gyms or yoga studios, no local coffee, etc.
The thing is these places try to open. They all do well briefly and then people go back to Applebee’s, planet fitness, and Dunkin Donuts. The places close and then they complain again about how we have no variety here.
I mean what’s happening here? I do my best to support local business but its so exhausting liking a place just for it to shut down within a year. What do people really want?
