Got done dirty by a developer and I didn’t know until it was too late for a construction lien.

A developer/flipper who took out individual LLCs for each house they flip, contracted us to do work (about 5k). They paid half upfront and the second half to be paid upon completion was strung along until the 90 day contractors lien window was closed and then basically said ‘go fuck yourself we are being sued so there is no money anyway’. They project themselves as this bigshot real estate acquisition team on social media and post about their million dollar aquisitions and what great ‘flippers’ they are. It’s so upsetting. It’s the first time this has happened to us.

We are a smallish /to medium sized family business, and I only learned about this from my sister who handles customer accounts after it passed the 90 day mark. My dad says to just write it off that we will spend more than $2,500 in lawyer fees. I say burn it to the ground if they did it to us they did it to others. Any tips or advice I can present to my dad to tell him it’s worth it to stop them even if it just prevents them from screwing over the next guy?
